Academic Resources
Advising

Students enrolled at Marshall Online are assigned an academic advisor. Our academic advisors use a holistic approach to support and guide students in goal-setting, course planning, registration, degree requirements and progression, academic course concerns, and working through challenges that may impact student learning and success. They work with and provide referrals to campus resources. They are readily available via email, phone, and virtual platforms for appointments and conversations. Accessibility and Accommodations

Marshall Online is committed to serving the needs and success of students with disabilities. Please contact the Office of Accessibility and Accommodations to request services, accommodation, and/or adaptations.

Library Services

You don’t need to come to campus to access all of the extensive resources and services provided by the Marshall Libraries. You can access databases, journals, articles, research guides and books from where you are. Services and assistance are available by phone, email, and Ask a Librarian feature.

Proctoring

To promote academic integrity, some Marshall Online courses will require a web-based proctoring service for exams. The course instructor will provide information and expectations if required.

Textbooks

Textbooks and course materials are available at the Marshall BookstoreMarshall Libraries offers a textbook loan program.

Tutoring Center

At Marshall Online, we understand that learning can be challenging. Our Tutoring Center not only offers tutors but also resources and tips for being an active, independent learner. Virtual tutoring sessions are available.

Writing Center

Staffed with trained students, the Writing Center is a great resource to help with all stages of the writing process. Assistance is available for any writing assignment for all courses to improve skills and help students become confident writers. They also provide numerous writing resources. Face-to-face and virtual appointments are available.

Student Supports
Career Services

Our Career Education services are free to students and alumni. They provide resources and support as students explore and prepare for their career goals with career and advising, resume development, career expos, mock interviews, internships, skill development, career connections, and networking and job searches.  

Counseling Center

The Marshall University Counseling Center is here to support all students in their personal growth, academic success, and mental health. Services include short-term counseling, group therapy, and workshops, psychiatric evaluation, emergency and crisis response and workshops. Note-services may be limited to your physical location. 

Military and Veteran’s Affairs

We welcome our militaryconnected students to online learning! Our Office of Military and Veterans Affairs is the go-to office for active military, veterans, and dependents. They students in their educational endeavors and can help with understanding and applications for educational benefits.  

Student Affairs

As an online learner, there are ways to get involved and stay connected! The Division of Intercultural & Student Affairs assists students and families with resources for success. In addition to  Counseling Wellness, and Student Involvement, Student Affairs promotes respect, integrity, and safety throughout the Mashall community through the Student Code of Conduct and the Behavioral Intervention Team. 

My professor, advisors, and Marshall University should feel valued and appreciated for their hard work and for making this possible for individuals like me who still want to further their education but don’t have the means to do so in person.
