In order to help consumers make well-informed decisions about postsecondary education, Federal regulations require higher education institutions to disclose certain information. Below is a list of disclosures provided by Marshall University pursuant to these regulations.

  • Privacy of Student Records − Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) allows present and future students to have access to their individual educational records, provides basic protections of privacy of their records, and allows them to request that certain “directory information” be kept confidential.   • Textbook Information
    Marshall University provides textbook information on its internet class schedule web page. The textbook information includes title, author, edition ISBN, price, etc., when available. The internet class schedule is available at mubert.marshall.edu/scheduleofcourses.php.
  • Transfer of Credit Policies and Articulation Agreements

  • Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program
    Information related to the University’s drug and alcohol abuse program may be found at www.marshall.edu/disclosures/drugfree. This information applies to the entire University community, including students, faculty, staff, and visitors to the campus.   • Campus Security Policies and Crime Statistics
    The campus security report, which provides detailed information regarding security practices at Marshall University and crime statistics for the last three years, is located at www.marshall.edu/disclosures/securityreport. Additional information may also be obtained from the U.S. Department of Education Campus Safety and Security web site at ope.ed.gov/campussafety. Marshall University maintains an extensive web page describing emergency response and evacuation procedures, at www.marshall.edu/emergency. Emergency notifications and warnings are provided via MU Alert, an alert system utilizing telephone, text, and e-mail messages.   • Fire Safety Policies, Fire Statistics and Fire Log (On-Campus Housing Facilities)
    Marshall University provides an annual report which includes the campus fire safety policies, number of fire drills, and any fire-related incidents for on-campus housing.   • Retention Rate
    Marshall University annually calculates the retention rate for new degree-seeking undergraduates. The rate is available at www.marshall.edu/irp/student-right-to-know.
  • Graduation Rates
    Marshall University annual calculates the graduation rate for new, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduates. The graduation rate is calculated based on the federal standard of 150% of the normal completion time. The rate is available at www.marshall.edu/irp/student-right-to-know.
  • Transfer-out Rates
    Marshall University annually calculates the rate at which students transfer out of the institution. The rate is available at www.marshall.edu/irp/student-right-to-know.
  • Graduation Rates for Students Receiving Athletically Related Student Aid
    Marshall University annually calculates the graduation rate for new, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduates receiving athletically-related student aid. The rate is available at www.marshall.edu/irp/student-right-to-know.
  • Transfer-out Rates for Students Receiving Athletically Related Student Aid
    Marshall University annually calculates the rate at which new, full-time, degree-seeking students receiving athletically-related student aid transfer out of the institution. The rate is available at www.marshall.edu/irp/student-right-to-know.
  • Post Graduation Outcomes(Licensure Pass Rates; Post Graduation Employment [including salary], Military or Volunteer Service, Further Education)
    In addition to reporting professional licensure pass rates, Marshall University surveys graduates and works with partners to determine it’s graduates’ post-graduation outcomes. Currently, surveys are sent to alumni six months to one year post-graduation. www.marshall.edu/assessment/alumni-outcomes.

Intercollegiate Athletic Program Participation Rates and Financial Support Data (Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act)
Marshall University annually reports to the federal government certain information regarding participation rates and financial support data for intercollegiate athletics. *The report is available at ope.ed.gov/athletics/ (select “Get Data for One School” and enter “Marshall University”).

Voter Registration

Marshall University, as a participant in Federal Title IV Student Aid programs, is required to advise you that voter registration forms for West Virginia are available at the web site of the Secretary of State at ovr.sos.wv.gov/Register.  (Select the “Register to Vote” link). In addition to voter registration forms, other information related to voting in West Virginia is available at the web site.
