Biography
Susan Simmons, DNP, FNP-C, MSN, BSN, AS, RN is an associate professor at Marshall University School of Nursing. Dr. Simmons completed her DNP from Walden University in 2019 with a focus on preventive health in rural communities. Dr. Simmons graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2007 with her MSN, FNP; West Virginia University in 2005 with a BSN; and Davis & Elkins College in 1994 with AS in Nursing. She has been a nurse for over 30 years with experience in pediatrics, medical surgical, palliative, hospice, post anesthesia care, and critical care. As an FNP, Dr. Simmons has worked in family practice, palliative care, and currently works in a walk-in clinical in Elkins, WV. She is the program coordinator of the Marshall University/ Glenville State University Cooperative Pre-licensure BSN program in Glenville, WV. She is a member of the West Virginia Nurse’s Association, the National League for Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau.
