If you are a newly admitted graduate student, you’re ready to take the next steps to enroll at Marshall University in Huntington, WV! (If you have not yet been admitted as a graduate student, please visit our Graduate Admissions page to start the graduate application process.)
This is an exciting and busy time, and we’re here to make your enrollment process as smooth as possible. The checklist below outlines the key steps you’ll need to complete to officially join the Marshall community.

MyMU is your secure portal for accessing the essential online tools you’ll need as a Marshall student. It puts key resources—such as your student account, university email, Blackboard access, course registration, and more—right at your fingertips. Your education is an investment in your future. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and connect with our Student Financial Assistance Office to discuss funding options. For additional information, check out How to Finance Your Education.

Your Graduate Advisor will review and approve your Plan of Study, help you set up a thesis committee or schedule a comprehensive exam, and serve as an excellent resource to discuss your postgraduate plans. Find your advisor’s information on your Application Portal Homepage.

Marshall’s virtual Graduate Student Orientation introduces you to essential campus resources, academic policies, and support services to help you navigate your graduate experience. Available on demand through the Marshall Skills Exchange portal, it’s a convenient way to get the information you need at your own pace.
When you’re ready to join the Marshall family, log in to your Application Portal Homepage and select “Submit My Enrollment Decision” to inform the Office of Graduate Admissions you intend to enroll for your semester of admission.
Please note that your academic program may contact you directly regarding additional steps for enrolling in the program. Be sure to follow those instructions within the specified timeline. Submitting your enrollment decision to Graduate Admissions does not take the place of individual department enrollment requirements.
Contact your Graduate Advisor regarding your plan of study before registering for classes. Your program will let you know whether you should register yourself for courses or if the program will register you. For current registration information, visit the Registrar’s Office. You can register for classes:
- Online at MyMU
- In person at the Registrar’s Office in Old Main 106A

NOTE: Students with a hold or obligation on their record (including financial obligations to the University) may need to resolve the hold or obligation before registering for courses.
Marshall has replaced the traditional ID card with the Marshall Mobile ID (MMID), which allows you to add your MUID to your smart phone or Apple Watch. MMID can be set up remotely, so you don’t need to make a trip to the ID office. Visit the MMID User Guide page for more information.

It’s important to be aware of your account balances and payment deadlines. Missing a payment deadline (even if you don’t receive a billing statement) may result in your being withdrawn from your courses.
The Landing features modern, fully furnished studio and two-bedroom apartments and is located just a few blocks from Marshall’s Huntington campus. Current graduate students, as well as MU faculty and staff, may apply. The Landing is an ideal option for students in Pharmacy, Medical, Forensic Science, and Physical Therapy programs.

All Marshall students are permitted to have cars on campus. You can apply online for a parking permit.
