About
Sabrina Jones has spent half of her life in the Marshall University community, first as a student then as an instructor. She is a member of NCTE and a strong advocate for campus equity. She wrote a proclamation to Governor Tomblin to establish a state-wide Adjunct and Contingent Faculty Recognition Week, celebrated in both 2014 and 2015. She enjoys the typical English teacher hobbies of reading and writing, especially YA fiction, Appalachian literature, and anything dealing with the American dream. She teaches Beginning Composition, Advanced Composition, Texting the World, and First Year Seminar. She is also currently working as an MU EDGE academic mentor through a fellowship with the Higher Learning Commission.
Recent Publications: Her poem “My Daddy’s Teeth” was recently published in the Anthology of Appalachian Writers and she is currently working on an essay called, “Language is Power: Personal, Cultural, and Political Empowerment in the College Composition Classroom” for a forthcoming collection of scholarly essays on the theme of Voice and Empowerment in English Studies for Cambridge Scholars Publishing.
