About
Allison Carey teaches courses in English-teaching methods (grades 5-Adult), film, modernism, and young adult literature. She came to Marshall from North Carolina, where she taught high school English and courses at UNC-Charlotte. Her teaching and research interests include English education, new media, young adult literature, film, modernism, and the use of technology in education. She is Coordinator of Undergraduate Programs for the English Department as well as an English education Program Reviewer for NCTE/NCATE. In addition to her work with the English Department, Dr. Carey is also a da Vinci Faculty Fellow of the Honors College, where she teaches interdisciplinary honors seminars. While at Marshall, Dr. Carey has taught English courses in film and in teaching-methods (how to teach writing and how to teach literature), as well as Honors College seminars in “Domesticity and Modernism,” “Second Year Seminar: Ethics, Leadership, and Civic Engagement,” and “Dime Novels, God, and Indians.” Dr. Carey lives in Huntington with her husband, young son, three cats, and some toads.
