Located on the first floor of Prichard Hall, the Counseling Center offers professional therapeutic services that can assist students with mental health, academic, career, and personal needs. Counseling services are confidential and free for Marshall University students. The Marshall University Counseling Center’s primary goal is to support the mission of Marshall University and the Division of Student Affairs by providing support and assistance to develop students’ personal growth, academic success, and mental health. The Marshall University Counseling Center recognizes and supports the diverse needs of students through counseling, educational, assessment, outreach, and training activities.
If the situation is already a medical emergency (Injuries, substance overdose, etc), please call for an ambulance first and then contact their crisis line for follow-up care. Should a crisis occur during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., M-F), you can go to the South Lobby of Prichard Hall (by the ramp) for assistance or call 304-696-2550. For after-hours crises, do not come to Prichard Hall – instead call 304-696-3111 or 304-696-2550 and select the appropriate option after listening to the pre-recorded list of options.
Faculty and staff who become aware of a student’s crisis situation may walk that student to the Counseling Center for immediate assistance during business hours, or they may assist the student in calling 304-696-3111 and selecting the Crisis Counselor option from the available options. If the student is not with you, instead select the option to speak with our Front Desk or MUPD.

Marshall University Student Health Services

Student Health Services at Marshall Health include the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and minor injuries such as:
- Cough, cold, flu, sore throat, ear infections
- Migraine, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- Rash, minor allergic reactions
- Sprains
They also offer routine, non-surgical office procedures, limited lab and x-ray services and referrals to specialists if necessary.
Free transportation is provided to students on all TTA bus routes including to the Student Health facilities. Students must present their MUID when boarding TTA buses. Marshall University Employee Assistance Program

Marshall University offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through The Standard Health Advocate. This is your place to find tools to support your mental, emotional, physical and financial well-being. Participation in the program is completely confidential and free of cost to the employee. Additional services, above and beyond what’s offered in our employer provided package, including referral services may be billed to the individual’s insurance policy.

As an integral part of the Marshall University Behavioral Health Center (BHC) and in keeping with its mission, Outreach develops relationships with their campus community by extending the services of clinical counselors beyond the physical site to the campus as a whole. They cast a wide net and are intentional in planning systematic, and creative psycho-educational programming that emphasizes a multicultural and developmental perspective on prevention, wellness, and student self-help. They collaborate with other staff and programs within the broader campus and Tri-State community as well as with other departments and units to enhance the general campus climate. Marshall University Campus Christian Center

The Campus Christian Center is a cooperative ministry space that is supported by local congregations and individuals. The CCC is available as a common space to students, and ministerial staff is available for pastoral counseling. The administrative office of the Campus Christian Center is open weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm. Pastoral staff is available for counseling. Please call the administrative office to make an appointment, or walk in during CCC hours.
