We cordially invite applications from enthusiastic individuals interested in assuming the role of Discussion Leader for our upcoming Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 veteran discussion groups. These groups are specifically designed for veterans in recovery, focusing on exploring selected humanities texts that delve into profound subjects such as war, trauma, and recovery. As a Discussion Leader, you will have the unique opportunity to facilitate engaging discussions and contribute to the growth and well-being of our veteran community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate thought-provoking discussions centered around carefully curated humanities texts.
- Guide participants in critically analyzing and interpreting the themes and messages conveyed in the chosen texts.
- Foster an inclusive and respectful environment that encourages active participation and meaningful dialogue.
- Offer guidance and support to veterans as they navigate the complex topics addressed in the discussion groups.
- Collaborate with a dynamic team of professionals to ensure the program’s success.
Requirements for Consideration:
- Previous military experience or a solid connection to the military community.
- Willingness to participate in our comprehensive preparatory training program held at Marshall University. This intensive three-day course will take place from August 24th to August 26th and will equip you with the necessary skills to excel as a Discussion Leader.
- Commitment to leading one of our esteemed discussion group series during the Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 semester. Each series comprises weekly meetings conducted over a span of five weeks.
