What is Aphasia?
Communication is more than language — it’s bringing people together.
Aphasia is a language disorder that impairs one’s ability to speak and understand others. The most common cause of aphasia is a stroke. The Aphasia Group at Marshall works to improve the lives of individuals with aphasia and equip group members with the skills they need to reenter society by targeting personally relevant goals. The group also provides members the opportunity to interact with others with aphasia and form lasting friendships.
When and where can I receive services?
The group meets once a week over a 12 week period during the fall and spring semesters. You can join at any time during the cycles. Group meetings are held 10-11:30 AM on Thursday mornings in Smith Hall on Marshall University’s Huntington campus.

What costs are associated with these services?
The Aphasia Group at Marshall University costs $75 per semester. Further financing considerations may be available.
