2018

Now available only as excerpts used in the 11th and 12th-grade Spanish courses at Uplift Charter Schools’ North Hills (TX) Preparatory School, this magic realism title by a Mexican author was deemed “too complex for the grade level assigned.”

2013

Removed from the reading list at Nampa (ID) High School because it was considered too racy for sophomores.

2005

Challenged by a parent at the Arrowhead High School in Merton (WI) as an elective reading list assignment because the book contains “sexually explicit and inappropriate material.”
