Marshall University does not ban books! The information is provided to let people know what has been banned/challenged elsewhere.
2018
A parent’s complaint about A Lesson Before Dying being included in the curriculum turned into a district-wide ban of all instructional materials that contain “profanity, cursing, or inappropriate subject matter” at Dixie County (FL) schools. The student of the parent was given a substitute title, while a committee reviewed A Lesson Before Dying and decided to retain it. A day after the decision, the superintendent issued the ban.
2004
Removed from the Louisiana College bookstore in Pineville (LA) by the college president because a love scene described in the book clashes with the school’s Christian values
2001
