As we work to provide you continued access to your courses during this evolving COVID-19 situation, we are continuing to work on providing you the resources and guidance you need to shift to an online learning environment.

Technology Learning Resources for Students

Prepare to transition to an online learning experience by focusing on three key areas.

Stay engaged with your courses, and communicate with your instructors regularly.
Familiarize yourself with key resources provided by the university and tools such as Blackboard, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, and make sure you can access these resources on the devices available to you in your current location.
Learn how to prioritize not only your school work but also take care of your physical and mental well-being.

Technology Hardship

The university is aware some students do not have adequate access to broadband internet or may have other technology hurdles.

If you are encountering hardships associated with completing coursework through online or distance learning formats, please complete the online Technology Hardship Form so we may assist you.

Students can access the form by logging in with their Marshall University e-mail address. You will then be redirected to the single sign-on page and multi-factor authentication for security purposes.

Need help navigating Blackboard, Teams, or myMU? Request an appointment by emailing crystal.stewart@marshall.edu from your Marshall email account to set up a one-on-one online appointment for assistance.

Know your classes

Organize your schedule. Dedicate time for each of your classes, and be prepared to attend live lecture sessions via Microsoft Teams or Zoom if required. Check Blackboard, your syllabus and your email for details from your instructors on upcoming assignments, testing changes and other course expectations. Expect ongoing changes, and be patient with your instructors – and with yourself – as we all adjust to a new learning environment.

Learning Tools

Locate the tools you need to access your courses online. Familiarize yourself with Blackboard, Teams, and/or Zoom, and make sure you can access these resources on your devices – preferably a laptop, tablet or desktop computer. Your phone will work for checking email and Blackboard announcements, and you can use it to attend Microsoft Teams and Zoom meetings, but it should not be your main device for accessing your courses.
