What is the SEVIS Fee?
The SEVIS fee, implemented by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is a fee intended to defray costs associated with the administration of the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). This rule took effect on September 1, 2004. Each student or exchange visitor issued an initial I-20 or DS-2019 is responsible for paying this fee to SEVP.
All incoming international students are required to apply for an entry visa to the United States. You must attend a visa interview at the nearest U.S. Embassy in your country to obtain the entry visa. Click here to see a list of U.S. Embassies and Consulates throughout the world.
