Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador Program

The success of the Marshall University: Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador program depends on a network of volunteers serving in a variety of roles. This program has been established to assist Marshall University’s Global Education in fulfilling its’ mission to support the recruitment and enrollment goals of international students for Marshall University.

This agreement outlines the expectations and responsibilities of Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassadors.

All Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassadors must commit to work together in the best interests of Global Education and the University, and not for personal, political, third-party or financial gain.

Being a Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador with Global Education will not impact the admission application review of a personal or professional acquaintance of the volunteer.

All registered Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador names, phone numbers and email addresses may be viewed by other registered Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassadors.

Qualifications

Required: is not a private educational consultant or agent for current and/or prospective applicants
Required: is a current faculty or staff of Marshall University
Effective communicator
Enthusiasm for supporting Marshall University
Agreement to all terms and conditions associated with the Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador (MUGOA) program..

Responsibilities

Understand expectations of an Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador, Marshall University, and Marshall University’s Global Education..
Be knowledgeable about the Marshall University experience, undergraduate admissions and our admissions cycle.
Provide timely feedback to Global Education on the volunteer experience and needs.
Actively participate in volunteer opportunities.
Complete required training.
Complete volunteer wrap-up items including promptly returning any items belonging either to the Marshall University Office of Admissions or Global Education
Conduct yourself in a professional manner as a representative of Marshall University.
Abide by NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice, in particular:

- Accurately represent and promote Marshall University
- Refrain from disparaging comparisons of other secondary or post-secondary institutions
- Do not accept or offer reward or remuneration from secondary school, college, university, agency, or organization for placement or recruitment of students in the United States
Renew commitment annually.
Description of Duties: Ambassadors may be asked to participate in a variety of recruitment activities. These activities include but are not limited to:
- College and Career Fairs: Ambassadors to work college and career fairs and provide academic information, application information, and valuable insight for prospective students and their families relative to become a Son/ Daughter of Marshall.
- Admissions Events: Outreach Ambassadors assist admissions staff at various events, providing context to the Marshall Experience and answering questions from students and their families, high school counselors, and/or community members by participating on alumni panels, assisting with check-in and/or mingling throughout the event.
- Student Referrals: Ambassadors are an extension of the Marshall University community in various areas around the world. If there are prospective students that would make great Sons/Daughters of Marshall, please recommend them. A recommendation, however, does not impact the review of the admissions application of the recommended prospective student.
Must return all items borrowed during volunteer activities. Ambassadors are subject to billing for the cost of any and all damaged or missing item or items (this includes table cloths).
I agree to comply with all University rules and regulations applicable to my work as an Ambassador including, but not limited to, BOG Policy GA-1, Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment, Sexual & Domestic Misconduct, Stalking, and Retaliation.
Students or prospective students and Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassadors are not to be alone at any time or for any reason.
I agree to comply with the requirements of Marshall University’s Global Education designee directing my ambassador assignment(s).
I understand and agree that I am a University employee and that my participation in these activities is voluntary and not in exchange for any consideration (e.g., pay,).
I certify that I am physically and emotionally capable of fully participating in volunteer service with Marshall University.
- I assure Marshall University that, to the best of my knowledge, information and belief, I am physically able to engage in assigned activities (which may include but not limited to lifting boxes of 10-50 lbs, standing for long periods of time, walking long distances and walking up and down stairs) without any undue or unusual risk to me or to others.
I understand that good faith efforts will be made relating to my safety and good health. I therefore agree to assume and take on myself all of the risks and responsibilities in any way associated with volunteer service for Marshall University.
- I choose to voluntarily participate in volunteer services for Marshall University with full knowledge that it may be hazardous to me and my property.
I agree to exercise common sense and good judgment and to conduct myself at all times in a manner that is appropriate to this type of experience.
I understand and agree that Marshall University and I both have the right to end my volunteer relationship with Marshall University at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

Confidential Information:

Confidential information is all information that either Global Education or the Office of Admissions considers to be confidential, personally identifying or proprietary information of the office or third-party sources. Confidential information may include, but is not limited to: information about name, mailing address, email, phone, date of birth, identification numbers, ethnicity, event registration, and event participation, information about prospective, admitted, enrolled and continuing students.

Confidential information also may include, but is not limited to, unpublished or pre-released versions of both Global Education and Office of Admissions or third-party documents, emails and information, internal-use-only or limited-circulation documents and information, and contact information for volunteers.

Volunteer agrees to not disclose any confidential information, and not appropriate, distribute, photocopy, reproduce, or replicate any confidential information without written consent from Marshall University.

Volunteer agrees that any list or aggregated confidential information provided is for one-time use only, and only for the intended and approved purpose. Proprietary or confidential information is not to be referenced in or used to construct communications, unless permission is granted from the Office of Admissions.

Volunteer agrees to follow all Global Education policies and procedures, state and federal law, to respect the wishes governing use of confidential data, as communicated to the University or affinity partners or through third-party sources.

Volunteer understands that, as a volunteer with the Office of Admissions, s/he may be held personally liable for any misuse of confidential information.

Volunteer agrees not to use any confidential information for his/her own benefit or that of his/her employer, family member, friend or associate.

Volunteer agrees that Global Education is the sole determinant of what information will be shared.

Volunteer understands that, as a volunteer with Global Education, s/he may be held personally liable for any misuse of confidential information. Volunteer agrees not to use any confidential information for his/her own benefit, family member, friend or associate.

Volunteer understands and agrees to the expectations and responsibilities outlined in this agreement. Failure to adhere to this or any other university policy may result in termination of the volunteer relationship at the discretion of the University.

Marshall University: Office of Admissions Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador Agreement (MUGOA)(Required)

I have read the above Marshall University Faculty and Staff Global Outreach Ambassador (MUGOA) Agreement and agree to the terms set forth. I am aware of this agreement and am signing this agreement of my own free will. Further, by signing this agreement, I acknowledge my understanding that the Assistant Provost for Global Education or other designated MU official, shall have the right to release me from this agreement without prior notice.

Non-Discrimination Agreement(Required)

Confidentiality Clause(Required)

In the course of their service, MUGOA volunteers will be privy to information that is sensitive or proprietary to Global Education or the University. They may also be privy to discussions of issues and ideas that are not intended to be shared outside of Global Education or those individuals included in the discussions. Global Education cannot function effectively unless confidentiality is maintained. I agree to comply with federal FERPA laws as well as Marshall University confidentiality procedures.
