Biography
Dr. Chrol is a professor of Classics and Chair of the Humanities Department at Marshall University. He received his PhD in Classics from the University of Southern California, as well as an MA in Greek and Latin from the University of Maryland. His research interests include Latin Literature, Gender Studies, and Social History, and has published on pedagogy and Star Wars as well. In 2008 he was the recipient of the Pickens-Queen teaching award at Marshall University, in 2014 he won the West Virginia Foreign Language Teachers’ Association Outstanding Teacher of the Year (College Level), and in 2017 he received the SCS’s Excellence in the Teaching of Classics at the College Level Award. He is also the advisor for the Marshall University Historical Fencing Club.
