Biography
Dr. DeTardo-Bora started full-time teaching in 1999 at Wheeling Jesuit University and has been serving the Marshall University community since 2004. She has taught over 18 different courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs. In 2019, she was instrumental in creating the online master’s program as the Director of Graduate Studies of the Master of Science in Criminal Justice degree (2011-2024). In total, she has over 16 years of online teaching experience using Blackboard and served on the Blackboard Ultra pilot group. She resides with her husband, Dr. Dru Bora, and their daughter, Asha.
Over the years, she has received grants related to court appointed special advocate programs, domestic violence programs, weed and seed program evaluation, and housing authority programs. Her research interests include action research, cyber-criminology, women and the justice system, juvenile justice, corrections, and theoretical criminology. She is co-author of the book, Juvenile Delinquency and Justice in the United States and is the lead author of the book, West Virginia’s Criminal Justice System. Dr. DeTardo-Bora’s research has been published in scholarly venues such as Action Research, Corrections Compendium, The Journal of Qualitative Criminal Justice and Criminology, Security Journal, and Women and Criminal Justice.
