To apply for one of the College of Science scholarships listed below, or other university scholarships, please use the university’s Scholarship Portal at https://www.marshall.edu/sfa/scholarships/. Scholarships are awarded for an academic year, and applications are accepted during the preceding Spring. Winners will be notified via an email (sent to Marshall University email addresses only).
Available College Scholarships
Anna V. Love Scholarship for the College of Science
The recipient shall be a full time, an undergraduate student in the College of Science (COS) who has demonstrated financial need. First preference shall be given to graduates of Cabell Midland High School, Ona, WV. The dean of the COS shall select the recipient and renew the reward for up to a total award of 4 years (8 semesters) if full-time status and satisfactory academic achievement are maintained, in cooperation with the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Bernard L. and Sylvia Rosen Miller Memorial Scholarship
The recipient shall be a full-time, undergraduate student in the College of Science who has a chemistry, biochemistry, or physics major. The award may be renewed for up to a total of 4 years (8 semesters) if satisfactory academic progress is maintained, at the discretion of the dean.
C. Dallas & Lee Anne Kayser Scholarship
The recipients shall be full-time undergraduate students, who are majoring in either the College of Business or the College of Science and who are residents of West Virginia. First preference to an incoming freshman from Point Pleasant High School. Second preference to an incoming freshman from any other high school in Mason County, West Virginia.
Caro Family Endowment for Marshall University
Scholarship shall benefit graduating high school seniors graduating from West Virginia with a minimum ACT composite score of 30, or corresponding SAT scores, who will be a full-time incoming freshman. First preference shall go to students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences (CECS) or the College of Science (COS).
Day of Hope (Eddrick Clark, Michael Dillon, Megan Posten and Donte Ward) Scholarship
The recipients shall be full-time, undergraduate students who are residents of West Virginia in good academic standing with a 2.75 GPA or higher and has financial need per standards of the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Applicants shall write a two-page essay on “Prom Night Safety.” Essays received will be shared with the Neighboring Initiative Charitable Trust. First preference to students majoring in Criminal Justice or Forensic Science in the College of Science, who are incoming freshmen, from Cabell County, West Virginia.
Doris H. and William D. Crigger, M.D. Scholarship
The recipients shall be full-time freshmen students in the College of Science who have demonstrated financial need and have an average of 2.5 GPA or greater. Recipients shall be residents of West Virginia, with first priority given to residents of Logan, McDowell or Mingo counties in WV. The Dean of the College of Science (Dean) shall select the recipients and renew the awards for up to a total award of 4 years (8 semesters) if full-time status and a minimum overall GPA of2.5 are maintained, in cooperation with the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Dr. Greg Crews & Dr. Dallas Nibert Dentistry Scholarship
The recipient(s) shall be a full-time undergraduate student in the College of Science, who is a resident of Cabell, Lincoln, Mason or Wayne counties in West Virginia, or Lawrence County in Ohio, who is in good academic standing with a 3 .0 GPA or higher and has financial need per standards of the Office of Student Financial Assistance. First preference to students considering occupations in professional healthcare. The award shall be renewable up to four years (8 semesters) if the recipient maintains good academic standing of 3 .0 GP A or higher.
Dr. John J. & Mary S. Sheridan Scholarship
The recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student who has a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and is a science major in the College of Science, or a nursing major in the College of Health Professions.
Dr. Shirley Martin Howard Scholarship
The recipient shall be a full-time student who is in the College of Science and has demonstrated financial need. Preference shall be given to a West Virginia resident. The dean of the College of Science shall select the recipient and renew the award for up to a total award of 4 years (8 semesters) if full-time status and satisfactory academic progress are maintained, in cooperation with the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Francis A. Scott Scholarship
The recipient(s) shall be pre-medical education students expressing an interest in continuing the advanced study of medicine with primary consideration given to students from the Tri-state area.
Gilbert S Elliott Scholarship
This scholarship shall support students majoring in science or mathematics.
H. D. (Dan) Moore and Jewell Ridgeway Moore Memorial Scholarship
The recipient shall be a full-time student in the College of Science. This is an academic scholarship for recipients who meet the university’s academic standards as established by The Office of Student Financial Assistance which shall select the recipient.
Hurley Family Scholarship
The recipients shall be full-time, undergraduate students who are majoring in the College of Science, in good academic standing with a 3.5 GPA or higher. First preference to a student from Logan County, West Virginia.
James H. and Rosemary L. Wikel Life Science Scholarship
The recipients shall be a full-time student in the College of Science and be residents of West Virginia with first preference to students from Wyoming County, West Virginia. First preference to students studying chemistry or biology. The recipients shall be in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher and have financial need per the standards of the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
James H. DeBord Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship shall benefit students enrolled in the College of Business or College of Science who are from West Virginia.
Jane Whitley Mittendorf Science Scholarship
Scholarship shall benefit graduates of Paul Blazer High School pursuing a degree in the College of Science. Student must have 3.0 or greater GPA.
Jerry R. Keyser Scholarship
The recipients shall be a full-time student from West Virginia with first preference to biology majors and second preference to environmental science majors. The recipients shall be in good academic standing with a 3.5 GPA and have financial need per the standards of the Office of Student Financial Assistance. The award shall be renewable up to four years (8 semesters) if the recipient maintains good academic standing of 3.5 GPA or higher.
Joseph C. and Sarah B. Dawson Scholarship
The recipients shall be full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are majoring in forensic science in the College of Science. First preference to residents of West Virginia.
Linda Royer Kennedy Scholarship
The recipient shall be a full-time student in the College of Science, have a demonstrated financial need, be a West Virginia resident and have a minimum of 2.5 GPA at Marshall University, or, if an incoming freshman, have a minimum HS GPA of 3.0. First preference shall be given to a student who is St. Joseph Central High School, Huntington, WV graduates.
Mary H. Hodges Scholarship for Math and Science
The recipients shall be full-time students from West Virginia majoring in math or science in the College of Science with financial need per the standard of the Office of Student Financial Assistance. First preference to students from Cabell and Wayne counties in West Virginia.
Steve and Mary Beckelhimer Science Education Graduate Scholarship
Recipients shall be graduates of the Marshall University College of Education or hold a degree from an accredited undergraduate education program or hold a valid teaching certification in the state of West Virginia and be accepted to either a research-based graduate program in the Marshall University College of Science (COS) or a College of Education and Professional Development (COEPD) graduate program and be planning to become science educators in the public school system. Priority shall be given to students from West Virginia. The recipient shall conduct research under the supervision of a faculty member whose research field is included under the guidelines of the State of West Virginia Research Trust Fund.
The Earl L. Mullineaux Charitable Trust Scholarship Fund
Scholarship shall benefit full-time students majoring in engineering, chemistry, physics, natural sciences, agriculture, or other related sciences, be a resident of Cabell or Wayne counties in West Virginia, who demonstrates financial need per standards determined by the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
The Jean McAlister Albarr an Scholarship
The recipient(s) shall be a full-time undergraduate student who is a member of the Honors College. First preferences to West Virginia natives and students majoring in the College of Science. Second preference to students majoring in the College of Education and Professional Development.
The Luzader Family Scholarship
The recipient shall be an incoming freshman, pursuing a major in the College of Science, who is in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA or higher. First preference to a resident of Southern West Virginia, who is a first-generation college student, and has financial need per standards of the Office of Student Financial Assistance. The award shall be renewable up to four years (8 semesters) if the recipient maintains good academic standing of 3. 0 GP A or higher.
The Silver Scholarship
Scholarship shall benefit students in the College of Science.
Tom and Sally McNeill Lemke Scholarship
The recipient shall have a high school GPA of 3.5 or better. First preference shall be given to students from Hardy County, WV, and Schuylkill County in Pennsylvania or their successor school systems; second preference shall be shown students from the following counties in West Virginia: Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, or Morgan. Each recipient shall be an incoming freshman who is a full-time student and has demonstrated financial need. The first preference shall go to a student in the College of Science.
Vernon Sharp Scholarship
Scholarship shall benefit graduates of Cabell Midland High School. They shall be full-time student(s) in the College of Science, with first priority to majors in mathematics who are in good academic standing and demonstrate financial need per standards determined by the Office of Student Financial Assistance. First priority will be given to students in good academic standing and those that have financial need.
