Dr. Tom Cuchta attended the American Mathematical Society Central Section conference in Lawrence, KS hosted at University of Kansas. He was an invited speaker in the special session “Theoretical, Applied and Numerical Aspects of Nonlinear PDEs” where he spoke about recent work he did involving partial dynamic equations on time scales. Partial dynamic equations are a generalization of partial differential equations, which are types of equations that commonly appear across all areas of science. Dr. Cuchta is also currently supervising an undergraduate student on a related problem; that student is currently receiving a WV NASA Space Grant for the project.

The organizers of the session were Dr. Shalmali Bandyopadhyay (U. Tennessee Martin) and Dr. Animesh Biswas (Missouri State U). The session was also attended by academics from across the country, including from Iowa State, UNC Greensboro, U. Utah, U. Alabama Birmingham, Kennesaw State, U. Central Missouri, U. Tennessee at Martin, Worcester Polytechnic, Illinois Institute of Tech, and Appalachian State.
