Applying for admission to Marshall University is a step-by-step process. The Marshall University Graduate Admissions Office is ready to assist as you complete the graduate admissions process to apply and be admitted to Marshall as an international graduate student seeking to earn a master’s degree or a graduate certificate / professional development.
In most cases, requirements for admission to graduate certificate or professional development programs are the same as for admission to graduate degree programs, including at least a 2.5 overall undergraduate GPA. However, requirements for admission to these graduate-level programs can vary, so please check the requirements for the graduate degree, certificate, or professional development program you are interested in.
Please be aware that some programs will not consider applications without GRE, GMAT, or other graduate admission test scores. Students should refer to the Graduate Catalog for additional requirements and application deadlines for specific programs. Admission to Marshall University does not guarantee admission to all programs. The ETS code for Marshall University is #5396.

Application Deadlines
International applicants must submit ALL required documents by the following deadlines to be considered for admission:
- Spring Semester – October 15
- Summer semester – March 15
- Fall semester – June 15
Admission Requirements
- Equivalent of U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accepted, accredited institution (determined via NACES member credential evaluation report *)
- Undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (determined via NACES member credential evaluation report*) Please note that some programs may require higher GPA.
- Graduate admission exams and additional items may be required for some programs (see Application Portal for specific items)
- Proof of English Proficiency (80 TOEFL iBT, 6.5 IELTS, 105 Duolingo)
After you submit your completed graduate application and all required international graduate admission materials, we will review your file and notify you with an admission decision.
* To complete your application, please provide an Official NACES Member Credential Evaluation in lieu of transcripts or marksheets. For a list of current NACES member evaluation companies, please visit www.naces.org/members.

Application Process
- Submit the International Application for Graduate Admission. Currently, application fees for degree-seeking programs are waived for international applicants.
- Request all official, required admission items listed on the application portal to be sent directly to the Office of International Admissions. See Official Credential Policy.
- If you would like to grant information access to a representative, friend, or family member, complete the Student Information Access Form.
- If a representative is assisting with the application process, submit the Application Cover Sheet.
- Once all requested credentials are received, wait for an admission decision. Decision letters will be sent to the student email address provided on the application.
Official Credential Policy
Official credentials are received by the Marshall University Office of International Admissions directly from the issuing examination board or records office. Student copies of transcripts, evaluations, faxed copies of college transcripts, or credentials issued to any party other than Marshall University are not considered official.

The Office of Graduate Admissions will review your application to ensure that your application is complete and that you have met the minimum institutional requirements for admission. Your completed application and supporting materials are then sent to the degree program you’ve selected on your application for a secondary evaluation and an admissions decision.
